I have to agree in part broadway, I do think that who ever gets into power will still be "YES" men for Europe.

I too dislike the fact our troops are in distant lands, but I think there doing a fantastic job and at the end of the day, if we don't make a stand against the radical nutters...the alternative isn't worth contemplating .

You'd be surprised just how many people DON'T use there vote, then try to force there political views on other peoples.

I jolly well do care! The village hall is booked for our May Cake Club meeting that day and the election will turf us out! We'll have to defer for a week.

However, I do always vote. I owe it to the suffragettes. If you have ever read what they went through and how shamefully they were treated, you wouldn't waste a vote either. Respect!

That's exactly what I'm trying to bring up. Everyone is sick of how the country is run and I keep hearing people protesting that they won't vote to show the government up. (or words to that effect).

But not voting is NOT a protest vote. Not voting is letting the same thing happen again and again due to apathy. If you feel strongly about something, contact your local candidate, ask them for their exact policy about what they intend to do on what you feel strongly about. Ask the what they intend to do with their allowances, ask them how they intend to vote on the issue of returning men from the wars, ask them what change they will bring because you're sick of being told you need to have ID cards, etc etc.

That will put them on the spot, and that's how it should work.

You have the right to vote, use it for what you believe it

I am a reasonably political animal, and my sole gripe about living in France is that I'm not allowed to vote in who gets to run the country where I live, irrespective of the fact that I pay my taxes there.

I agree totally with Flum, despite the fact I'm a bloke, people "should" vote because of what people like the Suffragettes went through to allow the likes of us today the chance to vote.
Agree also with BK, not voting is clearly NOT a protest vote. Not voting is a sign of apathy.
I have always voted as I feel I should express my democratic wish. Having been to many places in the world where voting quite simply isnt an option, I am always thankful I have the choice.

Danny, having troops on the streets in a democraticaly elected country to enforce daily law and order cannot be a serious request surely? Isnt the job of an elected government to put in place policies to ensure that the population can live in relative peace?

I know the troops do a great job, sorry if my message suggested otherwise. Our troops are one of the few things that make me feel proud to be British.

Hopefully not, only if the debate turns into mud slinging will it be so food for thought there peeps. Keep it clean and not personal.

Twas only a century or so ago that only the landed classes were allowed to vote and male ones at that. Many countries do not allow their citizens to vote at all let alone freely. With that in mind I would politely ask that those who can vote do.

For the first time in quite a few years it appears that the gap between the two main contenders could mean there is a hung parliament. If that happens brace yourselves for a very rocky financial ride as the pound will slide and the stock market will fall.....lots!
There may well be a swell of support for the LIB DEMS and UKIP as a protest against the two main parties making a hung parliament ever more likely, but hopefully not.

Fiscal policy for me is the wealth provider that makes jobs, gives us pay rises and money to spend. In 1997 we borrowed £6 billion pounds, this year its close to £170 and thats despite the boom we had between 1997 and 2007, despite the £100 billion taken from pension funds and despite the promise of an end to boom and bust. As it stands, the deficit will take the best part of a generation to clear and thats not a good position to be in.

I agree Danny, it is the government's job, and it doesnt appear to be happening, I agree with your opinion.
My opinion is that the British Army aren't designed to be used for that purpose.

Vote for change perhaps??
