  • After watching Alys my next door neighbour's bought some cabbage plants and I've given her some lettuce to plant amongst her flowers, so the programs bound to have encouraged others to have a go at growing veg.
    Location....East Midlands.

    • flummery and swansea girl- thank you for telling me the weed name, etc.

i think the only part of the program that i like, are the bits that dont involve the gardening!- ie the drying apples, foraging, canning fruit and veg. the gardening stuff is to jumbled for me to follow, as the garden is very crowded, and she does get a lot of head shots of her eating which i dont really like.

      • Ooh yes I agree, the constant crunching of everything she grows. Fair sets my teeth on edge!

          • I did enjoy the program as it was different but made me feel inadequate as i never have time to cook such yummy food and I felt like our food is dull in comparison, I think I need to cultivate mad hair to grow veggies as Alys and her pickled friends had crazy hair! Mind you I do resemble a mad old bag lady at present as have just got back from the plot after being up there since 7.00am this morning as wanted to get some jobs done before the promised rain came, five hours later it still hadn't rained!!
When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant. ~Author Unknown
