Jamie Twit?

Am I alone in thinking that this young man (cannot remember his name) is approaching his sell by date.
In the beginning he did feel like a bit of fresh air but nowadays more like stale breath.

If you mean Jamie Oliver; I think it's good to see people who are still enthusiastic and gushing about the simple things in life.

Brengirl I totally agree with you IMO his arty farty chef style cooking does not translate into anything normal people can cook, he had a recipes in the news of the world suppliment that worked out costing more for a home cooked meal than taking the family out to the ritz

The only gripe I really have with him is the way he try's to build a skyscraper on the plate with food...WHY Jamie...WHY?? Did he not have Lego as a child ???

I find his recipes incredibly easy...I don't read NOTW but his pizza and pasta dishes are fabulous.

I have a couple of his recipe books, but don't find very much of it appeals to me I have to admit.
I like the fact that his programmes fuse cooking with trying to do some good in the country, but not all problems can be solved with good cooking and I do find him a little annoying.

I wouldn't say he was past it (that's the right kind of "past" right?), but I do find all of his stuff very hit and miss.

Err - is the OP definitely about Jamie Oliver?

I've made a fair for things from his recipes (I usually just wing it when I'm cooking) and have found that most of them are decently priced and dead easy. Of course - if you've not got any of the herbs and spices in for some of them and buy them in especially it does get pricey - but spread over the lifetime of using those herbs it's cheap.

As for sell by date... most people seemed to think he'd met it when he first became known. I didn't see it myself and though I don't watch much of his shows or buy any of his books I figure he's passed the sell-by when people stop buying his stuff.

For the record - the burger recipe from his "Elvis Extravaganza" on Oliver's Twist makes probably the tastiest burger I've ever eaten - especially with the organic mustard I get from Unicorn grocery in Chorlton. Dead easy to make a massive batch up and freeze most of them in parchment paper... just like I do with the pizza dough recipe I got from his website. The chips he made to go with it were damn fine too.

I find him the opposite of 'arty' cooking - very straightforward and fairly basic, in a good way.

I have a couple of his books, but don't use them much to be honest - if I'm going to open a cookery book, it's because I want something challenging - though his ideas for fresh pasta and salads are worth a look.

We caught a bit of his Marrakech thing last night - both thought it was a bit badly edited, but agreed that he's actually way more likeable now he's settled down a bit! I think he's a decent chap, genuinely trying to do some good things with his skills.

Dont like the way he swans off to other countries and tries to show them how to cook their food - in my opinion its rather conceited.

Still his stuff is simple and easy...even my eldest daughter can cook his recipes!!

Have to agree - his food is pretty easy and yummy too but I find him a bit annoying these days tbh. Probably says more about me being a bit jaded than it does about him!

I like JO too. I have a leaning toward Italian food, so his books and his 'chuck it all in' style of cooking, appeal to me. I find Gary Rhodes' 'building the dish' incredibly annoying.

But that's just my opinion!

I also am not a fan of jamies. I like heston, gordon, hugh, marco and delia but never liked jamie.

I'm not a big Delia fan, but her that was on BBC2 last night, I cant remember her name...now she is annoying, she seems as if she want's to be Nigella and in my OH's books, there's only one Nigella.
