Can't stand Jamie Oliver; he's an irritating little toad (that's the polite version)
Like Keith Floyd, but I'll bet he wasn't easy to work with. And also Rick Stein
I'm old enough to remember Graham Kerr, The Galloping Gourmet, who I also liked

Hmmm.... I wonder if women like Jamie, and men like Keith. That seems to be the case with my friends & acquaintancies

I do like James Martin on Saturday Kitchen but I think my favourite TV Chef of all has to be Silvena Rowe who has been a guest, several times. She's hysterical.

Nope. Not here. I liked Floyd tremendously, as did my mother and sisters. My parents adored his programmes and we'd all it watch together, followed by my father then heading off to try cooking something Floyd had just done). None of them are keen on Jamie O.

I don't have any massively strong opinions on TV chefs if I'm honest. Don't watch much telly and I'm usually more interested in what they're cooking. Heston's a nice chap but no doubt loads of people think his food is pointless and mad; I'm not crazy about Ainsley H; and I think Sophie D doesn't deserve all the 'thinks she's Nigella' flak she's getting.

But generally, my opinions on TV chefs are really fairly mild.
        I don't roll on Shabbos

I too liked Keith Floyd. His manner was relaxed and informative unlike Jamie's which is frantic and in your face. I don't know what size his feet are but somehow feel he is a little too big for his boots.

I agree. I have no time for any of the Redknapp family.

Took me a while to fall in Rocketron. But on reflection I would rather have this Jamie as a dinner companion. But, I'm the chef. Who said anything about 'naked'?

(not wanting to speak ill of the dead or one of the great chef presenters) but I imagine Keith's breath smelt like a pub carpet....I don't think the three for me one for the pot thing would really work these days.

I think Jamie is essentially a kind well meaning chap. There was a time he was really cutting edge but he quickly sold out to Sainsbury...suddenly everywhere like a rash. Yes, he has some deeply irritating traits but he is a good chef

...the only thing I held against him was the jumping on the veg bandwagon...he grew a row of radish and a few herbs in a window bow then suddenly he was an expert...what!...yeah, with several knowledgeable gardeners of camera doing all the work....just whop it in...its a garden not a stir fry

Not quite Brengirl you referred to him (forgetting his name) as a twit and likened him to stale breath with no qualification....quite rude really but, there we are, I don't mind blunt speaking and I doubt he'll read your comments.

I, on the other hand, inferred that while overexposed (maybe that's the naked bit?); he actually spends a lot of his time on good causes not just lining his pockets. I just thought he should stay in the kitchen.

Works fine in this household , especially when OH is cooking .

I used to love Jamie Oliver in his earlier stuff where he was just cooking at home - particularly the ones where he grew his own stuff as well! But I think that his new stuff where he is out of the country, he is really out of his depth and showing his posh boy roots. He comes across as uncomfortable and arrogant when he has to do something 'out of the box' - like on that American one where he camped with the Native Americans and I find it quite difficult to watch now.

Just watching him on BBC breakfast - showed a clip of him cooking paella for 800 - looked really good. He goes to Marrakesh & Italy and looks at local cooking food. Looks very interesting and I don't normally watch, doesn't seem to do a lot of veggie food...

Seems we love to knock a winner.

No, wasn't keen on him when he first hit our screens before he was a proper household name

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Dan - I thought Oliver's Twist was pretty good. Some of it seemed a wee bit contrived but the food that he knocked out was pretty decent. The burgers and chips in the elvis one are lush, and some from the episode where Genaro Contaldo came over are pretty nice too.
