    Re: fear going after being stung...

    ...probably because though it hurts, it's nothing like as bad as the anticipation of being stung. I dunno why kids would react badly to a bee or wasp if they've not seen their parents do so, but maybe the black+yellow=danger thing in nature is firmly ingrained in us peopleings too.

      14 months old (though he's often mistaken for someone older) - and the odd thing is he seems scared of little else.

        I think you're right Organic - anticipation of the pain is much worse.
        My 6 year old is only slightly nervous, and only cos of her big sister.

        Wayne, hoping this doesnt sound like too much of a cliche, but maybe its a phase and once he gets used to them, or forgets them, he'll be ok...

          Has he got a fury toy bumble bee? might help a little. You could make up nice little 'bee stories' using a stuffed toy bee?
          Poor little chappy.

            He has actually - one of his first toys was a 'bee'. You squeeze it's face and it plays tunes/makes noises;

            Doesn't look much like a bee though does it?
