The headaches might also be the result of losing weight too quickly. There is some risk of acetonaemia from over-rapid weight loss. Another reason why the usual advice is to aim for a couple of lbs a week once underway.

Meals on wheels again today (daughter), Spag Bol, jacket potatoes and garlic bread, pork & leek home made sausage rolls and flapjack. I only had a little of the savouries and no flapjack, but because I've cut down such a lot, I filled up quick!

I don't mean this to sound as if I'm having a go, but Florence, have you thought about the amount of fat you may be eating?
A lot of it will be hidden, like in the pastry of the rolls, and in the meat in the spag bog unless it's boiled first etc etc. May be why you're not losing weight as quickly as you'd like.

Thank you for your concern Taff - portion was very small and measured (I use WW points counting). Daughter realises I'm trying to lose weight, so cooks accordingly. Small slice of garlic bread and the small sample of sausage roll were indulgences and I'm not going to beat myself up about them as I've only had salad and cottage cheese for lunch and porridge for breakfast.

I have never ever 'boiled' the meat for spag bol before Browned it and poured off any excess fat, yes. But if you follow WW, it tells you the points for X number of grams of mince, and then you extrapolate that out to the weight of meat you have, and then divide it by the number of people it will serve, and you have your points value. It isn't actually that much as so much of a bolognaise sauce is the veg and they're point free. Ours that we had tonight worked out at 5½ points altogether, including the pasta To say that I'm working to 22 points a day at the moment, I think that's not bad at all

Cheer up duck, no need for the long face! As Sarz says, everything is counted, but you were right about the "hidden" calories, it is easy to forget about them. I have to calculate extra hard to include my glass of wine of an evening!

There used to be a recommendation that to reduce the fat you should boil the mince, and throw away the cooking water!
                      Waste of flavour there.
If you want to minimise the fat in some such way, drain off the liquid and let it cool, then remove the fat (which will be solid) and use the stock that is left.
If you also half the amount of mince and add some red lentils, they will soak up the stock, and replace the reduced protein from less mince, without adding fat, and no-one will be any the wiser!

I don't boil mine, I fry then drain, but my mother has problems with eating fat so she does that to hers. To be honest, I haven't noticed an awful lot of difference.

Suppose it depends on how much flavour you add to it Taff. My mum never fried mince, she always boiled it.

Well.......today is end of third week of 'three day' dieting and I'm really looking forward to an Atkins kebab tomorrow (no pita bread, with salad)

Don't know whether I should just use this 15.5lb weight loss in three weeks as a springboard to a more sustainable diet for life policy?

Smaller portions of varied foods is the real way to go methinks .........but can I be trusted?

Might just try a full on Atkins approach.....decisions, decisions!!!!!!!

YAY lost another 5lbs this week. Not bad considering that I have not been 100% and I've been on Steroids all week (and will be for another four) BMI is now 38.9... nother 9 points to go and I'll be in the clear! I seem to be loosing one a week, only hope I can keep it up!

Well done Snadger! Nearly neck and neck now! I've lost 16lbs altogether!
