      • I'm afraid if I had a push bike MBE it would be just that! Another tester tonight - throw out. Will have to be very selective. Refusing the bacon sandwich is strengthening my resolve. Fingers crossed.

        • I never did manage to learn to ride a bike, my balence is virtually nonexistant. I couldn't manage to walk along the upturned benches in PE at primary school, I always fell off . In the end the teacher let me sit on the end to stabilise it when the others were scampering along. The only thing I did managed to do well was play hockey, and because my Dad refused to take me to matches I lost my place on the school team.

Walking and gardening are my main forms of exercise. I like swimming, but don't like the idea of running into kids from school at the local pool and it costs too much in petrol to go further afield.

MyFitnessPal is so going to tell me off tonight. I was supposed to be having chilli, but wasn't hungry before going to teach cupcake decorating, and I couldn't be bothered to eat when I got home at 9.30. 350 cals short, and I didn't eat any cakes or icing either.
I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!

          • I'm like you BS, no sense of balance at all. I'd love to be able to jump from rock to rock instead of picking my way along
I've just about broken even today with MFP - hate being told off - just want to rebel and shout back

            • Thought for the day!! I have no idea what it would cost to go to WW or SW but if I put £5 aside a week, every week that I'm following MFP, once I reach my target I shall spend it all on something special

                  • Kissykit is putting a £1 a lb away, and her fiance says he'll match her. I'm just looking forward to fitting into some of the smaller clothes I bought last time!

                    • Me too BS. I've been fairly good all weekend, but I did have a Magnum yesterday afternoon. I did so much work in the garden on Saturday I must have used up some calories. I have to put my food into MFP today when I get the chance. I told you I'm not very good at diaries, but I will try. It's my weigh day tomorrow and I do hope there is some loss.

                      • I've had quite a good weekend exercise wise, though my fitness pal doesn't always cover my form of exercise. Vigorous car washing didn't appear on there, or standing in a cold swimming pool. Thankfully gardening did, though it doesn't distinguish between digging and pottering.
I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.

                        • With the exercise malarkey, I halve the time I spend gardening as I seldom do heavy work - but there can be a lot of step climbing involved!
For walking, I have a pedometer so I see how many miles I've done a day and equate that to hours/speed of walking.
                          Complicated innit!
No weighing scales here so I won't know for a couple more days whether I've shifted anything.

                          • I had a problem with that too, I nearly killed myself on Wii Zumba but couldn't find it on My fitness pal

I now have a fitbit pedometer that links in with MFP, a bit pricey but KK bought it for me. I find it works as a sort of incentive 'cause it gets me running upstairs and using the exercise machine just to see how many steps I've done.

                            • I've been measuring steps for a while - trying to do 10,000 a day. Have failed miserable in the last few months though because I haven't been able to take the dog for a walk. Walking without a dog has little appeal

                              • Tell me about it, I've been trying to persuade myself to go out for a walk in the dark mornings for about 2 weeks, but I'm simply not interested....

10,000 steps a day, I knew you lived on a hill VC, but I didn't know it was the great wall of china.
