Yup ASBO Rooster is about right! The g*t thing came at me tonight whilst I was feeding them their corn/treats, which he's never done before. Previous attacks have only ever been when I had nothing to defend myself with, and never when I was providing food. Today I missed with my kick, as he was too fast for me (not difficult, to be honest!) but I did belt him round the head with the bucket!
