Most people risk life and limb crossing the ring road, but there are now some pedestrian crossings and a new bridge.

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant. ~Author Unknown

Famous people from Farnham include William Cobbett, Mike Hawthorn and Jonny Wilkinson. Charles II is supposed to have hidden out here in one of the pubs whilst in exile. Farnham used to grow hops for many breweries and were transported to London.

The local Steam Railway museum was on Blue Peter when they moved a Signal Box from Derbyshire to the Churnet Valley Railway whole. The Railway was also used for the Jenifer Saunders/Dawn French/Ade Edmunson/Ben Elton (when he was still a comedian and before he sold out to make crappy musicals) BBC series Happy Families. Peter Howitt the original Joey Boswell and writer/Director of Sliding Doors used to live here. The local Flint Mill recently appeared on Industrial Revelations on Quest TV. Eric Bristow the ex world darts champion/wife beater owns a pub in a nearby town.

Lived there from 1990 til 2002, so had more than one drink - used to drink in the George and Dragon pretty much most nights. Met the OH there, so not all bad. Spent an uncomfortable night in Uxbridge Pig Sty once too. Still think that Ealing has two of the best indian restaurants in West London.

                              World's first industrial city.
Morrissey (a hundred thousand apologies and if there's anything we can do to make it up to you we'll be more than happy).
Manchester United (and City of course).
                              Bernard Manning (sorry again).
                              The Stone Roses.
                              The Happy Mondays.
                              Discovery of the electron.
                              First stored-program computer.
                              Robert Peel.
                              Free Trade.
Repeal of the corn laws. (largely came from these parts, though I'm sure not exclusively)
                              Peterloo Massacre.
                              Chartism.
                              Cotton.

So other than the minor blips with some of our less proud moments (Morrissey for one) - quite a lot really.

Not much of that will be news to anyone though.
