Sorry if this is a silly question Trousers, but what is this term 'gash'? My father in law uses it from time to time and I had thought it was something to do with what I term 'gardening clothes' but that would not apply in the context you have used it. (don't want to ask father-in-law as I will get some rambling explanation that will cover the whole of human history)

Been snowing solidly here since about 5:30 this morning, it has stuck and is probably about 4". Schools off today and tomorrow which the kids think fantastic but I've still got to go to work. Tried driving today but it scared my to death so I'm going to bus in tomorrow.

No snow at all in Leeds now. It did snow most of the morning but didn't settle on the roads.

I think you will find that Hazels cat has only two ears - what you mistook for a third ear is quite clearly a Teletubby protruberance in the style of Tinky Winky

SR is about right - given that the cat is about the same dimensions as a telly tubby. Taking a photo from any other angle reveals just how big he is!

Did you get your snow Elmo? My daughter phoned me from Ipswich at 7. 30 this morning to say they'd had about 3" (allow a bit for exaggeration). We're only 40 miles away and we hadn't had any! It did start as I was walking to work, but was big wet flakes and the ground had warmed up so it didn't settle. Kept up most of the day, gradually turning to rain (never settling) and finally stopped around 4 pm. No sledging this year!

Shirlthegirl, 'gash' day off is like 'stealing/pinching' a day off, sort of playing hooky? is how I use it....

Thanks Trousers, always got the impression it was to do with worn out clothing or something since FIL uses the term gash clothes when he is dressed scruffy to do chores. Maybe it means different things in different places. Unless of course his tatty clothes were stolen

No more snow here today, but yesterday's snow has not gone at all. So nice and white everywhere but clear roads. Just how I like it!

The Angels are having one hell of a pillow-fight today ! The snowflakes are enormous, and it's settling on top of yesterdays' snow, it's absolutely breathtaking.....
