  • Problem with subrciptions

I have read GYO since it first started but have difficulty in getting hold of the magazine where I live, so I thought I'd subscribe. I did it online, but had no confirmation from them by e-mail so I phoned up Aceville and they had no record of the subscription. When I got my bank statement it showed that I had paid so phoned again. I was told it'd probably be April when I get my first issue sent!!! How long does it take to process normally because I'm not best happy - 4 months!!! Today I've had to go into town then walk a good half hour to the nearest shop that sells it! Now is thatd dedication or daftness?!?!
    cheers

      Dear Eden,

I am sorry to learn that you have had problems with your Grow Your Own subscription.

Please would you be able to e-mail us with your details at subscriptions@aceville.co.uk so we can investigate this matter further for you.

It has recently been brought to our attention that we have been experiencing some problems with on-line subscription order system. I have been advised that this has now been rectified and an e-mail has been sent out to those affected.

May I, on behalf of the Subscriptions Team apologise for any inconvenience caused.

      Kind regards,

      GYO Subscriptions Team.

Hello Eden, and welcome to the Vine. What a shame your first post had to be about a problem with your subscription. Hope you get that sorted out soon. But come on in and tell us what you're growing.

          What a welcome

Many thanks to all for such kind replies! I'm sorry my first post was not a positive one!
What am I growing? Oooo, where do I start? I have 2 greenhouses which are packed to bursting with all kinds of plants, I love growing all my annuals and perennials from seed. In the summer they'll be full of tomatoes, aubergines, cucumbers, peppers, chillis. I have a large raised bed in my garden and grow loads of different veg and soft fruit. Last Autumn a few of us took on an allotment which I can't wait to get started on!! I also work in a garden centre which fuels my passion. My partner despairs of me and gets really narky when I'm doing my gardening! I don't have a potting shed so tend to do all my pricking out at the kitchen table in the evenings when the kids are in bed! I always get the kids involved and they love it too. Happy Gardening folks!!

Hi everyone. I have slight problem too. I have recently subscribed thro the whsmiths site and they tell me it can take 4 to 8 weeks to receive my first issue. This is more than ok but am not sure if this means that my first delivery will be this months issue or next. Am itching to buy this months mag but don't want a duplicate coming through the post. Any ideas what I should do?

Welcome to the Vine (otherwise known as the madhouse), Eden

Lucky you having 2 greenhouses. Working in a garden centre sounds the ideal job - if I did though, I'd end up buying even more things I don't have room for. Good on you getting the kids involved. My grand-daughter has a corner of my allotment, and loves it.

Buy this month's - who can wait 4 weeks. I'm scouring the shops as soon as it's out, though my daughter has just arranged a subscription through the WH Smith site for me too.

                  Confused?

I also recently decided to subscribe rather than risking missing an edition.

My confusion it that my Direct Debit confirmation comes from a company called Warners Group Publications - Aceville doesn't get a mention?

As Eden points out the delay in getting my "first" copy has been from mid January and I expect to get the April edition as a subscriber.

Why does it take so long to set up?

Serenity unfortunately that is how long it takes to get subscriptions into place and then you have to wait for the next magazine to be published. It is worth the wait though!

When you say you want to buy this months magazine do you mean the March issue that came out at the beginning of February? If so this will not be delivered to you under your subscription so go out and buy it - now!!

The April issue will be delivered on the first day of March so if it doesn't arrive in the first week of March go to the shops to buy it. After that your subscription should be in place.

I hope that helps and doesn't confuse you!!

I've been reading all this stuff on problems with subscriptions to the magazine and I'm prepared to stick my head above the parapet on this one.
I think GYO provide us with a marvellous service on this forum (thank you guys) and a great magazine BUT, if what is being said about the length of time it takes to set up a new subscription to the mag is true SOMEBODY'S HEAD NEEDS TO ROLL !!!!!! I think I could organise better from my kitchen

Maybe I was just lucky but when I did my subscription in the autumn it was dead simple and I got a letter back within about a week which stated which would be my first edition so I knew that II needed to buy the next one but the one after would be automatic. Think it was a special offer with Ken Muir but can't fault it, especially as I got a £15 voucher as a gift! Hope you guys get your sorted soon.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
