  • weed matting

    Hi all,

A quick question with regards this - I am going to lay weed matting ontop of a moss ridden lawn without digging it up, will this be ok?or do you think i need to remove this grass/moss first?

    thanks

    Steve

That depends on what you intend to do. Can you elaborate please? i.e. are you thinking of planting straight into it for instance?

      Sorry your right,

I have already set raised beds and I just want to get rid of the remaining grass/moss with weed matting and then put landscaping bark or stone ontop of it.

I would think that would work uulwyn. I used thick cardboard to get rid of areas of grass for raised beds, so I'm sure the weed matting will work just as well, if not better.

I used weed matting on my paths and bark on top of that. I didn't have any grass under it, but it certainly reduces the amount I'd have got growing through.
The one problem with bark is that it does rot down and needs topping up yearly. You'd probably be better with stones or gravel unless you want to kneel on it.
