Open Day

If there are any grapes withing spitting distance of Coventry on Sat 15th May we are having an open day at our allotments. There will be a chance to have a nosey around and to part with some cash on cakes, pickles, plants etc. . The address is London Road allotments and the entrance is on the Humber road.

Too far for me unfortunately - have been toying with the idea for a while of suggesting to the committee that we have a go at the 'Big Lunch' event in July the Communities Minister has launched to get people together and celebrate the sense of community - I thought all us on the allotment site could bring our produce, pickles and chutneys and get to know each other better whilst enjoying some scrummy lunch - then I think I'm just going soft in my old age and know the 'flat cappers' will just look at me like I've grown two heads - ah well a girl can dream - but hope your day goes well, and I'll be with you in spirit!!

It says in the Coventry Telegraph that the car park is open from 9.30. until 1pm so is that when it is over because i was coming about 2pm will some body be there???...jacob

Jacob I didn't realise you were coming in the afternoon. I must admit I thought it was on for longer .......but there will still be people there if you want to come and look around. P'haps they think all the stuff on sale will be gone by then, I think they are opening the gates for people to look around on sunday morning as well. I'll e-mail our chairman and find out.

Jacob , I asked our chairman and his reply is:-

The last two settled down by about 1400 so assumed that if the same happens we will begin packing up but if there are still people showing up then we will keep it rolling. We weather may play a role but it doesn’t look too bad for Saturday so far…

I'll still be around so I can show you round the site and our lottie if you want.
