I've had the idea for quite a while, but only just done something about it.
Being an avid user of wikipedia, I've often thought how useful it would be if wikipedia included information on plants regarding their sowing/potting/transplanting/harvesting times, soil preferences, plant troubles, companion crops, growing techniques etc. It would answer so many of the questions that we see here on the Vine day-to-day, but without needing to repeat them again and again. Like a constant resource of everything.
And there'd be no need to restrict it to plants either. It can easily include pages on:
Soil conditioners
Garden pests
Beneficial garden wildlife
Tools
etc
I've created the website, but it is currently empty. I'm going to slowly start adding information onto it, but it will only become useful once it has a decent quantity of pages completed. So I thought I'd mention it on here in case any other Grapes thought it was a good idea and fancies contributing to it. Anyone can add or edit it, you don't need any special permission, just search for a page and click the 'edit' button at the top. If the page doesn't exist, click the 'Create a new article' link on the left.
