Oh right I did not know, but I would rather put an X to make sure my vote was counted, will we find out tomorrow who gets in will anyone be watching the election night on the tele?.

Nothing\s going to be known before 6am though, surely it makes sense just to go to bed and wake up early?

I have been to vote we only had one paper which to me seemed to be a local one but maybe I was expecting to see all the main ones eg, brown, clegg, cameron etc and not the more local names. I seem confused even though I have always voted.

Just back after second attempt. There's still a 2 hour long queue in the driving rain to get in. We tried at 7.00 p.m., and just now.

Cleggy only lives a few streets away. You'd have thought he'd step in and sort it out.

We went earlier...DD was quite fascinated to see inside and was quite excited that we get to vote for a new leader...didn't like to burst her bubble.
It was pretty busy at ours too,the people manning the Station said there'd been a constant flow all day.

You're not one of the people outside Clegg's house on Sky News are you? Apparently there were approx. 200 people in his constituency who queued to vote, but when it got to 10pm were turned away and not allowed to vote. They're not happy so have turned up on his doorstep to tell him.

I went around lunchtime. No crowds, nobody outside asking for your polling number, nobody doing an exit poll etc. but then we are known for our apathy around here!
The Tory candidate was standing outside though chatting to people, at least he had made the effort, haven't seen any others set foot in town, don't think he has a cat in hell's chance though!

Nope, but Mr R WAS one of the ones who got turned away (he tried a third time). Came home for a glass of wine instead. There are some disgruntled folks around here at the moment. One woman in the queue had tried 7 times throughout the day - couldn't get in.

Might watch Sky news now. If you see someone in pj's, holding a glass of red, looking fairly tired, tell Mr R to come home.

I went at 9am after school run as it was in the next door building.
Proud to say I voted this time.
Ashamed to say I have never bothered before. Same for my OH, but at least this time our vote has been counted
Someone remind me tomorrow to turn on tv and see who won.... or I will probably remember to check about Tuesday!

I was bit confused though as our rubbish and services are provided by one council, and yet the actual area is covered by another council in another area . So it didn't really make much sense to me. As the people I then had to vote for are miles away and can't make changes to my village etc anyway

I'm just glad I'm Sheffield Central and not Sheffield Hallam, where people were turned away when the ballot closed, unable to cast their vote. My OH (who incidentally doesn't need any excuse) blames the students who were apparently without cards and unable to decide where they live. My daughter (who as I mentioned on another thread hasn't voted for many years) surprised me by saying that she was going to vote this time, but she lives in the Hallam constituency and I've yet to hear if she was able to.

Went and voted mid morning and had a bit of a spat with the number collector outside the polling station who asked a question and then said you have no need to answer that one .
And when i told her what other question i would not be answering she got back in her 08 range Rover looking a bit miffed .
Then went and had a nice chat with the tellers i always do i asked for winning lucky dip but was not forthcoming i always enjoy voting a laugh and joke do not cost anything...jacob

We both voted on the way back from walking the dogs this morning.
I think people who had queued for a while and couldn't vote have every reason to be annoyed. If they simply turned up late, that would be their own fault, but if insufficient resource was provided to get everyone through in time, that is bad management!

I do understand the rules about closing the polling station on time, but is there no penalty that can be applied to those who organised it so badly?

Who won in that constituency (or are they still not sorted)?
