Well discovered Nicos - got to be honest, I can't even find my GYO at the moment far less work out what sort of thermometer it is!

Well done Nicos - does it explain the temp guage as well?

You definately get the prize Nicos ! Well done ! But I'm not sure it's what GYO intended to impart to us! Maybe they should explain.

From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.

I'm still of the school of thought that says 'Management'/'someone at HQ' has had a bet to see how long it will take Jo Public to decipher the puzzle......!
hence the 'Delibret Mistook' that I made reference to.

Tell me. Who, editorially in the GYO office thought that we'd all immediately identify with an R as opposed to an F?
Horticulturally, you wouldn't, unless you first 'noticed it', then 'questioned it' and then maybe 'Googled it'.
                I rest my case.....!

No need LJ, unless you want to yourself....
I just find it a little peculiar that you wouldn't choose to picture the normal thermometre of F & C, when that's what most Jo Publics actually know and recognise. So why go all out to do an R and a C?
I'm sure no-one's really losing sleep over it....?

I think it was chosen cos it looks old and quaint...? (ie- they hadn't notice it either!!!!?)

As the poser of the question I would like to thank everyone, especially Nicos, for taking the time to put me out of my missery. Now I can continue reading GYO looking for something else to puzzle me.

Still now it's getting light after work I will be able to get out more.

                        Thanks again.
