    Pah, sod them all,

the birds on the plots moved in straight away into 4 luxury tit boxes and produced 2 broods each. D

At home after 3 years 1 tit has looked in 1 box once and there are 7 or 8 to choose from. If they dont pull their fingers out this year there will be a compulsory purchase order made to convert the boxes into kindling.

And yes they are different heights, in cover, out of cover, this way, that way, camouflaged, complete bling, and some even have bloody house numbers on.

Evening PW, lovely avatar today! At least it was when I started posting!!!
Did you know that birds are supposed to find their mates on Valentiens Day, so perhaps it's not too late for your bird boxes.
As a matter of interest, does next door have cats? I know your beloved is 17 years old and a non-bird catcher, but maybe a Sylvester sits on the fence and puts them off??
I won't put up a bird box or feeder - with two rampant toms it would be too unkind.

Love it PW - was thinking of putting bird houses in our garden but with major works (new fences etc) to hopefully be done this year I think I will leave it and try next year. Don't want the poor wee birdies to move in then get disturbed by us bashing the rest of the garden to bits!

        Love the signature too!

I don't know what your problem is with the birds Piglet. I don't put up any nesting boxes - they nest in the ivy, the clematis, the rhododendrons - any shrub or tree will do. The blackies have been known to try it on top of the clothes props ! In relation to Valentines day - yes, traditionally it is the day the birds choose their mates, but I always thought it was a bit early round here - but today I saw Mr and Mrs Robin getting the relationship well cemented.

Cor - wondered why there were so many starlings strutting their stuff around the garden! No we don't bother with boxes either (no trees to hang them on!), they just nest in the walls instead.

We have a family of starlings who invade the wall of our house every year and nest behind the bathroom wall where the mirror is - scare the bejesus out of guests
