They all look wonderful. How can I be getting excited about NEXT year's spuds?

Oooooooooh! Another 'yes please I want a few packs of 5' here, because my vegetable growing is strictly container, so spuds are VERY limited, but I reckon we can manage 5 each of perhaps 4 varieties, including the deeply coloured ones (what is the name of that variety please?)

The dark blue ones are Salad Blue and the red ones are Smile and Setanta. The ones with the really strong coloured eyes are Blue Belle. The choice is endless.

The Salad Blue are coloured all through? I want those. Setanta look nice.
Because we grow in containers, second earlies are what we usually look for, but happy to vary that if recommended by a seed-supplier.

Congratulations tattieman priceless advertising for your 2011 catalogue .
But can't help wondering how much it cost to grow that lot how much heat and lighting and all the compost for the containers to grow in and all the fertilizer it must have cost a £1 a spud to grow thembut a good job well done .
And of course it helps sell Medwyns seeds from his catalogue next year just can't help thinking is it all worth it apart from prestige and bragging rights anyway congrats.. jacob

This forum is only here to sell mags; and all these shows are only there to sell space to advertisers.....if we take it to that level everything is wrong! [as Moby once said]....

I am sure Medwyn only does it for the Gold medal and the prestige that goes with it. Chelsea is not about money for these people, it is about the personnal pride that they put into their work and the passion that they have for it.

I think the business success that he has pays for his Chelsea display and not the other way around to be honest.

I just hope that all the grow your own magazines and such like jump on the band wagon to support the ULTIMATE grow your own gardener.

I'm pretty sure that Humax sponsor Medwyn, so the compost won't have been as expensive as buying it at Homebase...

If it gets a bunch more people interested in growing veg, then it's worth it in my mind.
