Oh dear - you have my sympathies. My son has also been in trouble for a couple small scale penalty fines - ain't it just great being a parent - the shame, the shame.

On the plus side - yes they will get a nasty experience in court and possibly fined, points etc - but at least this was off the road and 'relatively safe'. It could have been a whole lot worse if they'd done this on a public road - perhaps with tragic consequences.

At least she has the advantage of living to hear Mum and Dad nag her about said incident - many are not so lucky.

Don't envy the situation but hope that she and friend will learn lesson and not repeat.

Oh isn't it just fun being a parent? I got a call two weeks ago informing me youngest was in the back of a police van!! Incident involving a fence and many many pints of beer at a party I didnt know he was at!

You never stop worrying about kids and we never will as parents, i think i worry far more about my 19 year old than i ever did when he was a tot, at least you knew where they were at night and who they were with. Part of growing up making choices, i am sure we all did some daft things when we were teenagers that we would rather forget.

Some of 'em just have to learn the hard way! Hope they're lenient with her.

And hope she's suitably blimmin embarrassed, too!

she has been very subdued today, not like her at all,

as a parent sometimes you just have to stand back and let them take what comes I suppose.

I'm glad she's subdued - she should be. I do like your attitude though. They have to make their own mistakes, it's the only way they learn. I expect you and I were the same too. Unfortunately, too many Parents (well, mine anyway) harp on about 'you don't want to do bla, or you mustn't do bla, as if they were saints, and never did anything wrong themselves, when younger.

I did more-or-less the same thing as your Daughter when I was younger, but I didn't get caught. I was lucky. When I realised what could've happend I was very embarrassed.

Making a complete tit of yourself teaches you a lesson, and, hopefully, you don't do it again.

The problem is that experience has to be payed for when you are young you do not think about what the boring old farts try to tell you they worry about you but it do's not sink in....jacob

It's all a learning process: let them learn that doing wrong brings consequences. Face the music, take your punishment like a man etc.
Harsh, but ultimately for the best.

Oh dear! Hopefully it'll be a lesson learned and as others have said, at least it wasn't something so bad or stupid that it resulted in injury (or worse).
