Lots of frogspawn in a big puddle at the farm today complete with large black dots. Tried to explain to Miss EB about tadpoles with little success.

On Sunday I saw my primroses were out, as were the pulmonaria, the hellebores have been going great guns and there are violets just peeping out. Buds on everything, isn't it exciting, and for a first time gardener the most exciting thing of all is seeing things I planted last year really growing well, with big buds - lilac, clematis etc. I haven't killed them hoorah! And things that were dead coming up again - hardy perennials I think they're called! Bluebells that birds or squirrels hoiked out of the ground and had to be replanted are all doing well, fritillaries making another appearance, iris reticulata, had forgotten them.
And my beautiful camellia nagasaki has the most glorious blooms, the greenhouse is full of seedlings, is the end of winter finally in sight?

Aerodynamically the bumblebee shouldn't be able to fly, but the bumblebee doesn't know that so it goes on flying anyway.

Had crocuses and primroses out for quite a while, now got iris retuculata and "Grandad's Daphne" flowering, also one sweet violet flower, and the daff buds are starting to hang downwards so should be open soon. Got to 12 degrees today so I'm hoping spring is really here!

Plenty of Song thrushes about too so hopefully our plots can be the feeding ground for slugs and snails. Saw the regular Sparrowhawk this afternoon and there is an albino starling gathering on the School grounds at the pre roost.
Saw some Ranunculus ficaria and Primroses in flower at Oulton Village.
It was in 1997 when we had a very warm late winter to Spring so fingers crossed

Crocuses are out and some daffs.
My school hawthorn hedge is in leaf and the buds on my hazel are about to break.
It's all a bit worryingly early. The law will hang the man or woman
Who steals the goose from off the common
But lets the greater thief go loose
Who steals the common from the goose
