I'm fed up with all the adds for various 118 services. I've never called one of them and can't think of a situation where I would. So I was just wondering, have any Grapes used a 118 service?

I was put off them right from the start, Hotstuff. At work a while ago my team was inundated with phonecalls from the public, intended for all different parts of the council - apparently the 118 service just looked for the first number in the list and stopped at education!
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

I don't use anyone who has an annoying TV advert - unless I have to! It just puts me off

DON'T mention those"*&%"'s to me!! I regularly get calls at 6/7a.m. trying to book doctors appointments, because our nursery's name is the same as the local doc's surgery - which DOESN'T have a main switchboard number, you have to look up the doc's name. I've had numerous 'conversations' with BT, they can't do anything, and I end up paying to talk to anyone at 118, then all I get's a brief apology, then a few weeks later, it all starts again!! When I was out on the road a lot, and before mobile internet (i.e. the very early days of 118) I used to use BT's service ~ 118500 IIRC. Now, however,I just bring up google on my phone.

No, I can't think of an occasion when I might need to either! Hope that's not tempting fate! Those moustaches really annoyed me in the commercial breaks in Lost as well.

I tried 118118 just after they started up - they not only couldn't find Pizza Hut, but were adamant I had the name wrong and that it obviously didn't exist because of it...

never had the need for it, myself.
i do remember decades ago, (when phones where rotary dial and went 'DRIIINNGGG DRIIINNGGG' and there was only BT) calling directory enquiries for a number. I think it cost pennies to do back then.

I save myself the concern of television advertisments by not having a TV!

But is that back when a penny was a week's wage?
