huge footy fan, England, got my new shirt today, wont be off my back till we go out, or win , flags on house and car, if England did not qualify, i would be wearing my Holland shirt, wales, scotland, ireland, not for me. France how can you have soooooo many fantastic footballers put them in a team and play like that, chilie i have money on them as well,very underated team. good odds.

To be honest I think I may have been a bit merry when I posted last night, to be honest.

Looking forward to tonight, have a feeling it will quite close but desperately hoping for a 1-0 to England. I'm trying to explain to the girls in the office that if we win all of our matches 1-0 we'll win the World Cup, but they cant see England beating Algeria by 9 as I may have suggested.

I agree, football is like that, but the premise of your last post was that Ireland weren't good enough, but equally nor were France, without cheating.

I dont see France getting out of the group, nor do most people at home. Domenech is leaving at the end of the tournament anyway, no matter how they do, Henry is sulking because he isnt starting, they have several very good players who dont talk to each other, not ideal.

If South Africa could manage to play like that again for 2 more matches I can see them sneaking enough points to go through, which would be fantastic for the competition, although I somehow feel that to play the opening match for them was their final, we shall see.
Luckily we dont play footy on paper!!

The French got to the Irish match by cheating? No. Its about more than one game. If only the Irish could have scored some goals they'd have beaten the cheating French...but they couldn't. The French didn't need to score again.

I disagree, France were generally thought to have a much better chance last time round by the French. I still have the "Quelle Deception" paper at home on my office wall when they got knocked out, as they were convinced they could have gone further.

Both teams went into that match needing a result, thats why they were there. In that match, the French scored a goal that shouldnt have been allowed. That is a fact. If the French had scored more goals, they wouldnt have needed to cheat.
To say that Ireland werent good enough is to really not understand the situation. Both teams were on an equal standing before that match, and one side needed to score more goals than the other one.
