It's early days, Green made an unfortunate mistake then made a brilliant save but it will be the mistake that will be remembered. We are not good enough to lift the trophy but lets hope we can play the remaining games with a bit more passion & belief. Come back Bob, this is what football's all about. As I said earlier, everyone is an armchair manager.

I am not putting anyone down as obviously we (Ireland) are not in the world cup, but, I thought England were a disaster tonight. They should have beaten the U.S.A. hands down.

Fret not BM, I didnt mean I was going to leave this thread, just that particular line of discussion.

I thought England were woeful in the first half, despite the early goal. They were outfought and outplayed in the midfield. A keeper will make one of those in a lifetime, I still reckon he's the best goalkeeping option we have. World class save to deny Altedor near the end.
Second half, with Terry playing in his proper position, I thought England bossed the game without really having too many clear cut chances.
Not sure Rooney could be any quieter in a game ever, so he must improve.
Carragher was shown as lacking the yard of pace we've always known about, Milner shouldnt have played, he was clearly still not fit. However, I still think we will qualify as group winners, especially after having watched the Algeria (great goalie??) Slovenia game. England really shouldnt have anything to fear from those two.

A man who's opinions on footy I value highly, John Motson, was on the box yesterday. I was staggered when he gave his final 2 teams.
