Hope he is ok and will be back home soon. I love dogs but wont have one, I never trust dogs at any time, you never know if they will turn. Most of my distrust comes from my sister having a pure bred black cocker spanial that the vets said was interbred and had a duel personalaty. He had lots of treaments which didnt work. One day he went for my niece and my sister decided the dog had to be put down.
I hope you find out what happened though.

What a horrid situation - I really feel for your sister and her little boy. This is such an emotive problem with no easy answer and something very close to my heart too.

My mum had my DD for one a week whilst I went to work but she had a dog that had an extremely bad history: he was sent to a rescue home for biting the little boy of his original family, you couldn't stroke him on the head (he bit me for doing so because I forgot once), he bit my brother and Granddad, he killed a duckling and then finally last September he killed their new kittten for eating out of his bowl.

At this point, I asked my mum to make sure the dog was somewhere else when she looked after DD but mum said no as I was being silly (in her opinion) so the only (very difficult thing) I could do was to refuse to let DD to go to Mums. Obviously it caused ww3, my sister stopped talking to me, as did my mum and there were many tears & tantrums but I wouldn't take the risk.

Obviously my mums dog was a complete psycho but my opinion is that little children and dogs just dont mix.

Please dont take this the wrong way, its not meant to be offensive.

But if the dog is a danger/potential danger to kids, then really it ought to be put down. He might be ok most of the time, but what about if he does it again and 'really' seriously injures some other kid? The owner cant take the risk, and if I was the dog owner I dont think I could live with myself if my dog did that to a kid. Also if I was the parent of the kid, I would expect something to be done. Plus next time the police might be involved, or worse.
Again I agree, our dog was the most placid dog seriously, ever. Used to let birds walk over him, peck at his head, etc - didn't care..

I'd still have never trusted him with a child - my sister has a dog now (rescued - who incidently snaps at people - tries to attach them as it was mistreated), and she takes offence at me saying I'd not trust him - God forbid what I'd do to it if it ever did snap at our daughter (and i'm an animal lover!). Dogs can turn (well any animal I guess) in an instance, esp if over excited etc..

I do hope your nephew is ok though!

Spoke to my sister last night, needless to say she was tired, emotional and confused. Her husband was round at the neighbours when I called looking at how the dog managed to get over the fence, the fence is about five and half foot high, and both gardens have mature shrubs and trees along the fence there is only one area were Tes could have got the run up she needed to jump the fence and that was blocked as brother-in-laws motorbike was in the way.
Also the neighbour had spoke more to the grand daughter and she said the dog was brown with a black stripe down its back, thats not Tes, also there is a church yard that backs onto the houses and there is a family of foxes who have young at the moment and apparently one of the other neighbours has been feeding them, they have been seen in the garden regularly.

My sister and her husband are now not sure it was Tessa that did this, they were planning on a good nights sleep and talk to the grand daughter again over the next couple of days, an Uncle has both Tes and Pippa for the week and he has said he would keep Tes but sis is not sure as she doesn't want to be responsible if it was her and she does it again.
Also she has said that the wound doesn't look like a bit to her no puncture marks round it, he has a Y shape on his cheek she sent a pic to my phone and although I am no expert doesn't look like the shape of a bit to me.

Corey is fine, he has a really high pain threshold and hasn't even bothered. Mum spoke to him on the phone he was doing his pretend sneezing and laughing as if nothing had happened.

It's good to hear that Corey is well and unaffected. Could it have been one of the foxes, it's a strange one.

Hope you all get to the bottom of this and that Corey makes a full recovery.

Really is a sad and worrying story. The only thing I can suggest is to reintroduce Corey to Tess and see if there is any reaction. That doesn't exactly prove anything but it might give a lead.

He has been with the dogs again when they got home from the local hospital on the saturday night and he wasn't bothered but this is the boy who pulled the line out of his hand at the hospital and whilst blood was coming out held it up and said "Oh Oh" and started laughing when the nurses were trying to stop it bleeding!!

Spoke to mum earlier and she said that she saw a fox on the back wall the last time she visited too.

He is fine today had been visited by a friend of my sisters and her son not clingy at all and doesn't seem to have any pain although his face is swollen.

Glad Corey seems to be unaffected by the whole ordeal, and hope it isn't Tess who's the culprit (it doesn't sound that way). Always makes me think twice about getting a dog when you read about these sort of things happening.

Hope it all has a happy ending.

So glad he seems to be recovering well and that it may not have been the dog at all. Here's hoping there is a happy ending

hope the child recovers well from this. hope the dog doesnt get the blame, as he sounds like a patient loving dog, who had put up with a lot previously, and, if, it was him, had finally just had enough.
