I feel the same way. I've ran a couple businesses in the past, now I'm stuck in an office job, full of boring geeks. the only noise you hear (apart from my messing around) is the sound of people typing.
Only perk of this place (nhs) is the pension.
Defo going back to running my own thing though - I really enjoyed that.

I can relate to your plight too Wayne. I am currently in a job that I hate, and have been told that there is absolutely no chance of promotion as I am female! Am looking for another job, but this current climate is not the best. So, just having to put up with the bullying for 8 hours a day and try to switch off before I get home so I don't drag my OH down to the pit I currently feel I'm in.

Hi guys,
Well i am a stay at home mum.I just cant go back to work because i have a disabled son who takes up so much time even though he is at school.
I teach him at home too.
We dont have much money with only one wage coming in, but thats how life is for us at the minute, so we just have to survive with what we have got. Also having a beautiful sons like the 2 i have, makes me view life differently.
anyway, i hope that all of you that are looking for work, that something turns up soon. All of those that are in work and dont like their jobs, well there is nothing worse....been there/ done that.
I wish i could give you advice, say its all gonna be ok, but i cant :-(
Just want to let you know, i know what you are going through as i have been there before.
Good luck to you all
Hugs

I hope it sorts it self out soon and that you find something to move to that you enjoy. I'm beginning to realise that peeps who have jobs that they love and can still pay their way at the end of day are extremely lucky. I have work woes but of a different nature. I love my job but it's not very much money and as I'm going to be a single provider for the DD I've gone for an interview at my old place, which I hate but pays well.

S/he who awakes in the morning desperate to go to work and loving what s/he does is a very rare beast indeed.
We most of us are in a similar position I would suggest. I owe, I owe, so off to work I go.Bob Leponge

I love what i do most of the time, but today i am not happy so much to get done most of it at home, weekends as there is no time in school. At the moment crunching data for end of year results and although the children have made alot of progress it does not look like it in the format you have to submit it, that really sucks and i am completely shattered and folk will wonder what i have been up to all year!!!!
I do honestly feel like giving up tonight.
So can empathise with you Wayne sometimes i too feel like i am in the wrong job. When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant. ~Author Unknown

Maybe I'm in the wrong job...
I think you either need to start believing in yourself (try and identify a few things you have done really well and focus on those) or you need to consider what other jobs you might like to do.
I did a morrisby psychometric test a number of years ago which identifies your strengths and potential careers you might enjoy. I'd definitely recommend doing something similar if you're unsure on what you'd enjoy. If nothing else it gave me a massive confidence boost.

when you say you arent that good at interviews , just wondering whether it is self sabotage as you dont want to do that sort of job? not sure what you do for a living, so may be out of line here, but heres my take on work; when you say that you dont think you are that good at your job , is that because you arent that interested in your job; do you want to change your current job, or change what you do for a job? is it just your specific job, or is it that you have lost interest in or outgrown the type of job you do? because if its that you are in a job that doesnt particulary interest you, why not go parttime self employed, developing a hobby into a carreer, whilst still being an employeee for someone ( gotta eat!)
when you think of the hours of your life that are taken up in work, you owe it to yourself to have a job that fulfills or makes you happy on some level, other than just financial. when i am doubtful of myself or abilities, i write a question on a piece of paper, such as what is holding me back, or whatever to issue is, and then write down what first comes into your head, then ask "why" and answer the why, just continueing until you come to the crux of the matter. then do the same to get a plan for worse case scenario; once you have envisioned the worst that can happen, and figured out what you would do if it did, you have empowered yourself to make the right sort of change for you.
my own personal take on jobs is that you shouldnt work doing what you enjoy most, as eventually it spoils your enjoyment , in my case working with horses, so i dont work with other peoples, as i used to do. but choose the interest which you find next most enjoyable to use as your career.
i just think you should be true to yourself- for instance, if you want to live in a showmans wagon and go around the country, carving giant sculptures out of wood with a chain saw, or some other adventure, rather than work in a boring office or similar, then i say go for it, recession or not.
