  • Allotment 'Themes'

Would you all care to share with me the 'theme' for your allotments. Dexter's appears to be shed names. On our allotments, a lot of diggers fly flags. We have a Canadian Flag, the Southern Confederate States, a Skull & Crossbones, on mine its the Scottish Cross of St Andrew. Wot about it? Wots it like where you dig?

We have flags too, a couple of jolly rogers, St Georges, Cornish, to name but a few.

My intended theme, on my two allotments is loosely based on a Victorian Kitchen walled garden...........without the walls!

Made a start already....have measured up...drawn a crop rotation plan and started right in the middle with a large herb wheel!!!

        Watch this space!

My theme? Dunno, but my inspiration is colour (purple carrots, red sprouts, red lettuce, rainbow chard etc) and keyhole beds instead of straight lines

            Ah
not a theme exactly but as I don't have a garden I've been putting in flowers wherever I can especially the perfumed ones, growing tons of sweetpeas this year, itching to smell their perfume.
Oh and blue and black and white flowers where I can, especially blue salvias such a clear watercolour blue, wonderful.
No flags though, although I did have a chinese style goldfish on a big stick to warn the hedgecutters where my shed is so he didn't cut the roof off... it's gone in the gales so must get another one pronto.

Having taken my allotment over in November and having finished all the digging/prep my theme at the moment is 'dirt'. This with a dollop of 'unsprouted seeds sown far too early despite the aid of Heath Robinson cold frame'
