Hiya I know its unlikely but I have a massive burn mark on my carpet (chimney fire). Is there anyway I (or someone) could repair the burnt bit as I really dont want to replace the carpet
as students all over the world can attest, if you scrape some fluff form the top of the carpet in an area that isn't burnt, then glue it over the bits that are, it'll look like nothing ever happened
Is it stating the obvious to suggest a hearthrug to cover the burnt bit?
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

If its wool perhaps you might be able to get someone to darn it. If its man made fibre it might be a bit more difficult.
Hope you can get it sorted. Perhaps moving the furniture around might be able to hide the worst of it.

And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,

Its a rented house so the carpets are covered by the landlords but he has basically said nope down to you. I have a rug (also burnt lol) over it but its in a funny place as the firemen lifted the coals out and dropped one or 2 on the floor. so the burnt part of the rugis hidden and thegood part is covering the burnt carpet. But it looks abit messy so would just like it fixed but with hubby still not being well its harder than it would seem
Carpets are covered by contents insurance, not buildings insurance. So therefore, it ought to be your insurance rather than your landlord's. I know this because of a huge battle I had over whose insurance covered carpet tiles (they're buildings, because they're stuck down apparently...)
Oh right, its all so confusing. Inour contract though it says the carpets are ownership of he landlord? I think I may end up keeping it as it is and when OH is better replacing it just didnt know if carpets were repairable
Provision of carpets may be the landlords responsibility but as Sarz said, you should be covered on your contents insurance, assuming you have some. I'm confused as to where the Firemen come into the equation.

Doesn't matter who 'owns' them - it's definitely contents insurance that covers carpets, so if you have contents insurance, you should be able to claim on it
The only carpet 'repair' I've ever seen was in the style of what taff said ^ up there ^, and didn't look that brilliant...
Think the firemen were needed to put out the chimney fire BM. My guess at any rate
Hope you get it sorted Jax x
Ahh!.......Although I have never heard of it, I wondered if they were neglegant (sp).
