  • Two pieces of furniture........

    For our new house.

I fancy a Chiffonier and OH fancies a Grandfather clock!

So initially we will have an empty house with a Chiffonier and a Grandfather clock in it.

    No kitchen..no heating....no electric......no water......just the above!

Edit:- Sorry folks, just thinking out loud!

What a lovely thought Snadger, you old romantic you. I've always wanted a Grandmother clock, but never been able to afford one. I still keep looking.

That's an interesting choice, Snadger - would that be a single or double chiffonier - and with or without the mirror?
I would have put you down as more of a Wellington chest person - campaign furniture and all that!

Oooh - and what about the Davenport?

I also always wanted a grandfather clock but settled instead for a lovely cuckoo clock which my OH bought for me in the Italian alps.
A chiffonier, is it me or are they out of fashion?
        Nothing against you Nicos.
        Just thinking aloud.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

Were they ever in? Anyway, that should make them cheaper!

Sounds good Snadge. I love random bits of furniture. My faves are my greatgrandma's blanket chest, a washstand that belonged to (Ithink) a gr-gr-grandma and in the kitchen I have a pew that came from Wales. Gives meaning to the word "take a pew"
S*d the housework I have a lottie to dig

Youse edicatin me Snadger, I had to google chiffonier . Having done so it sounds like a really useful item, and I love grandfather clocks, so it sounds a nice house to me .
My fave bits that would go with me if nowt else did would be my grans totally valueless but deeply loved oak 40's sideboard and the computer.
OH has just peered over my shoulder and said 'bl***y hell, where does that leave me and the dog?' I'm not sure I'll answer that question

have you started doing said house yet Snadger, or are you just enjoying ownership and planning?

Why- what have I gone and done now?????

OK- my dream piece of furniture has always been an original mohogany railway clock

I do however have an extremely soft spot for any furniture made in the 16/17th centuary. The more basic the better.....all the chips/scratches/stains/burnmarks/worm holes all give me a warm feeling of being part of a history .
