Good luck to all who apply in the area - we can sure do with all the cash savings we can get our mitts on these days.

I know I'm a cynical old b***er - but what's the betting the councils will review the installations as a home improvement of such consequence to move peeps into the next paying bracket?
If something makes your house more valuable, it MAY push it into the next bracket. That is the ONLY thing that makes any difference. ANY imporvement could have such an effect, even just putting in a better kitchen or bathroom. The 'band' is based on the saleable value of the house, and set regionally. Unless your house value is close to the top of the bandwidth, it would take something drastic to push it over (new garage, big conservatory...., things the council would need to approve anyway).

Just had an email from the company saying the conservatory should not pose a problem so here's fingers crossed.

Not in our area and, from what they're saying, don't think we're in an area they're thinking of moving into soon

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

You never know, I would assume it is in their interest to get as many householders as possible, funds permitting. The more houses they have producing electricity, the quicker they get their money back.

I've certainly been spreading the word BM, thank you, lots of people interested. It's been on the news apparently.

That's where I first saw it FF then started doing a bit of digging & was happy with what I found out.

They say on the site the areas they're moving into next and we're not it but you never know after that I suppose.

                  I just recieved this reply:

Thank you for your application to find out if your roof may be suitable for our free solar panel system.

At the moment we are only installing in parts of the Yorkshire area, and parts of Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire and Humberside. However, due to huge demand we now have plans to expand our coverage and we will be opening a depot further south so that we can install in the whole of the Midlands, we are also seriously considering opening a depot in Bristol to cover major parts of the west country therefore your home may become suitable in the future.

Clearly my part of Lincolnshire isn't one they currently cover but it does look like it's worth keeping an eye out and asking again - plus it's great news that the scheme may be extended even further
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

I got the same with a proviso that I lived outside the zone, but I replied and said I had calculated it and it was 57 minutes door to door, but please bear me in mind in the future...

I looked at a similar scheme offered by one of the engery companies down here, but it was 10,000!!
It it was free I would definately be interested.

I would be interested in this, I would love to have solar power. Unfortunately like others have said, I am outside their current area. Fingers crossed they or a similar organisation start doing it here too.

Had an e-mail from this company yesterday. We are in the area, but unfortunately the surveyor has decided that we do not meet the criteria. From what I can gather, they do not tailor-make the panels, so the roof has to be to their exact dimension. As mine was bought from the council, I can understand the roof not being a standard specification! Oh well, something I nearly got. Thanks anyway BM, it would have been great. I've passed the info on to my daughter who lives in a "posher" house and district in Sheffield to see if she can fit the criteria.

I've had an 'outside of area' email today too. Ah well, if they expand, we should be first on the list?!
If just one of us gets it, it would be nice
