There's not a lot I can say Jules, it's horrible when you lose a much loved pet. He looked like a grand old chap, it's lovely that he had his last moments with you bless him...I'm going to leave it there as I'm getting chocked up. (((((((((BIG HUG'S)))))))) for you and your's. xxxx

Big hugs, Jules - just remember, a cat never leaves you, they just stroll off somewhere else. That's how they come in, and that's how they leave. My two are still back to see me in my dreams - they like to keep a paw in what I'm doing...
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

So sorry Jules, I know just how it feels as we had to have our beloved old moggie pts two weeks ago, she had developed a tumour in her tum. I miss Tilly like mad, mostly when I open the fridge door and there's no accompanying 'mmrrrp' from at my feet. Glad your fellow had a long and happy life with you, and a peaceful end.
For a shrub how about Pyracantha, with thorns and berries it would qualify as a red devil, and as birds adore the berries I should think its chook safe. Only other one I know that doesn't mind clay is Weigelia (sp) but no idea about safety..try one of the other threads for advice?
