Rules are for the guidance of wise men and the obedience of fools
Probably because he did such a good job of instilling this attitude in me, and also my own cautious nature, I have always hated to break rules. But as time goes on I see more and more that aren't worth keeping, that often defeat an organisation's own avowed objectives, and so I break them - if I can bring myself to - just on principle.
My Golden Rule is, think first, "What harm does this do ?"
And if I am thinking of breaking it,"Who will enforce this ?" In the UK, often no-one...
As for appearing to be above God - surely to judge your fellow man or woman as trying to do this, you are judging what is in their heart and minds - which I would say is most certainly the province of God alone as only He can know what lies there, and is thus a sin for mortals !There's no point reading history if you don't use the lessons it teaches.
Head-hunted member of the Nutter's Club - can I get my cranium back please ?

Or did you think about it and then do it your way anyway (usually my reaction)?
Surely it's the actions that count and not the askingLast edited by lizzylemon; 16-07-2010, 05:17 PM.
