over 2 monthes ago, i injured my knee and was told by doctor that i had torn ligiments and cartiledge. he told me to rest it and if it dint improve i would need an exray to see what else was wrong. i went back after a month of no improvement ( could hardly walk) and was told by a second doctor to basically go away and rest it. ( yes- i am fuming!) i waited another month of no improvement, and went back again in desperation. a third doctor sent me straight for an ex ray, and i got the results yesterday; 2 fractures and a bone that has rotated and is off center; i have to go for an mri to see what further damage there is to tissues, ( this might take up to a month, as i didnt go to emergency, and due to cost cutting, all requests for mri's have to be independantly approved my another agency) and then may have a knee op, or they might just clean it up and leave it. i feel absolutely desolate as i have wasted 2 1/2 monthes of my life now- doing virtually nothing, and it seems this will go on for some time, or possibly forever. i am so depressed and so fed up and worried. i would really appreciate some sypmathy ! even from strangers!!!

Oh lindy, I do feel sorry for you. I read and replied to your original post, as I tore the ligaments in my ankle several years ago. The doctor at the time did tell me I would have been better if I had broken it because they could then set it properly and put a cast on. I assume you went to your GP, I went to A & E with mine and was x-rayed at the time. I know it's no help to you now, but I think you have a case for complaining about your original diagnosis. Hope things turn out well and quickly.

Aww poor you,
I too have a bad knee so you have my full sympathy, they will not do my op as can cause worse problems than I already have.
Good luck!

Oh Lindy. How desperate you must feel. It seems incredible that you have been fobbed off for so long only to now be told it is serious and evolves yet more wait. The NHS is obviously stretched to breaking point and the deserving are being let down. Hugs

Its awful, I really feel for you. Always get another opinion if you are unsure. I would think you definitely have a case for a complaint.
I really do hope you feel better (or at least more positive)http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/jamiesjourney

Point in case...I had a serious mobility problem about 5 years ago. My GP did tests and pronounced "nothing much the problem" in other words get on with it. I protested and told him I was not prepared so to do so he made an appointment for me with an orthopedic. He examined me thoroughly and found nothing wrong so referred me to Circulation. Withing weeks I was admitted for surgery for peripheral arterial disease. But, that is yet another story!!!

Tons of sympathy here Lindyloo, really hope they can sort it out for you soon. Docs have finally agreed I have a problem in my knees (just wear and tear, they're 10 years older than me apparently!) and it's blumin miserable, so just loads and loads of sympathy.
I always wondered why older folks garden bent double from the middle - now I know it's cos the knees have gone!Life is too short for drama & petty things!
So laugh insanely, love truly and forgive quickly!

thank you for all of your kind words-- it really has helped!!!! have had a rollercoaster couple of days and have actually ended up crying because it seems neverending, apart from painful (crying!!- which i just dont do) i do now have a date for the mri, which was marked urgent request, and i have it for the middle of august!! a few hiccups and mixups with getting that appointment set up, but finally a lovely lady with the nhs got it all sorted, as there had been a bit of a mix up. also ran into a old friend yesterday who put it all into perpsective for me; she had bowel cancer and colestomy 10 years ago- and it appears it may have come back; she is waiting to get the date for when she goes back into hospital for investigation. so all in all i think i must just put up with my knee- it could be far far worse. so, looking on the bright side- the thing is that i now have an excuse for my quite rubbishy gardening attempt! my iceberg lettuce, which i have just looked at, has bolted, and has multi- layered knobs growing up the sides of a long sgraggly stalk- looks a bit like a mutant sprout. i never could grow them.Last edited by lindyloo; 14-07-2010, 05:24 PM.
