Well, we're back from sunny Turkey and what started out as a near disaster. Arrived at the hotel 6am, drop off bus drove away, to a hotel with locked door. Rang the bell and a confused manager answered it. Went in and he had no confirmation of our booking.
We booked with Sunshine.co.uk , big internet company. After me trying not to cry and lots of head scratching and photocopying of confirmation paperwork, he found us a hotel room to have a sleep and shower in while he helped sort things out. We also phoned emergency contact number. Manager came to our temp. hotel with offer from compny of new hotel which was walking distance and carried our bags round there. He was really helpful and very aplogetic for the b**ls up, something that was not his mistake.
Anyway, so when we arrive I had to phone the brokers to say that we would accept this new hotel, something we really didn't have much choice over. We weren't in a position to be picky at that stage. This hotel was not where we would have chosen to stay.It was mainly booked into by German families and all info and menus etc were in German and it wasn't nearly as nice. The only English people there should have been at the same hotel as us but had had their hotel changed a week before they were due to leave. In fact the manager said the same thing had happened two days previously.
It looks like this company are taking bookings on the strength of the good reputation of The Harman Hotel in Challis and then just sticking them elsewhere. The worrying thing is that they are still taking bookings and this hotel is full all summer- we asked when we were there. So if anyones looking at going to Turkey, be very careful with this company and if you can book direct, you'll know where you are going then
