  • Insect/fly bites

I was watering the garden last week and i felt something on my hand. When i looked i saw some sorta fly. I shook my hand and it didnt move, i felt a pinch then had to flick it off my hand. The same thing happened a couple of nights later just above my lip.

I am now left with a lump on my hand and one on my lip which dont seem to be going away.

I have never suffered from insect bites ever.

What can i do to get rid of the lumps. Was it just a bite, or have the insect/fly put something into me?

The lumps are hard and although a bit itchy at the time, not too bad.

I just dont want to be left with permanent lumps

What can i do to get rid of them, if anything?/

    Thanks in advance

We don't have anything that nasty in this country.
You're probably just a bit sensitive to that bite: take an antihistamine

      Thanks for that.

I think because i have been so ill lately that i am really run down. Never had a problem with insects before. I found some magnesium sulphate paste( think its an epsom salt mix thingy) and put that on to draw out any nastys there might be. Will get some antihistamine cream tomorrow

      Thanks

horseflies are quite nasty, hate them hate them!!!
any bite will go, they won't be a lump forever, probably just a week. Don't scratch them either if you can help it.

Thanks Taff. Yes i think it might have been a horsefly.

The one on my hand has been a bit itchy, the one above my lip not so bad.

Because i have been so ill though, the 2 corners of my mouth are all sorta cut and sore It looks awful enough without the bite too.

I am really run down i think and need a good tonic to pick me up quickly.

Anyone recommend one?? Or any herb that may help?

          Thanks

Thanks for that. Marmite....i dont mind it in small doses, but if it will pick me up then i will eat more than i would normally.(as long as there will be no side effects....let me know if you know any)

I was once told that prune juice helped with constipation (sorry if too much information) so i bought a bottle of it.

I love prunes.....so i drank the whole bottle in a about 2 hours!!!!

It took a bit of time to work and OMG!!

I never knew what to expect, but i WILL NEVER make that mistake again.

It was awful. didnt think i was gonna ever stop. I was stuck in the bathroom for hours...not daring to leave .....
