I'm going to blow my own trumpet now
I managed a First, 3 x Seconds and 3 x Thirds at the local agricultural show yesterday. This year I did a real mix and match of entries, as my veg wasn't particularly good (other things have taken over my time this year).
I got a First for my jam (class of 16!!). Mr OWG persuaded me to put my unusual jam in - Rhubarb and Vanilla, and it won
I got Seconds for my duck eggs (from my Runner Duck), cut herbs and caramel shortbread (which Mr OWG did part of)
Thirds were for a planted herb garden, honey flapjack and my first exhibition quality chicken - I showed one of my Welsummer girls, and came third in a class of about 7. The brill thing is with that is that most of the exhibitors are 'professional' poultry people, rather than backyard keepers.
I'm really chuffed to bits, especially with the jam. It was such a big class, and judged by the local WI, so I didn't even expect to get placed!
