  • A minor achievement

Well, for me it is a major one!

Snowdrop got back last night following some time away - always without exception the bottle gets open and I will drink (too much most often!) - but I had girded my loins to not touch a drop (I am doing one month no drinkies).

THEN he tells me we are going out on a curry run with 19 other RAF coppers - oh groan, not a chance of me not drinking, I haven't managed it for 17 years, why would I now!

But I did ... and it was alternating between funny and irritating to watch them get drunk

    YAY me

I started my month on 12 July - not that I'm counting ....

Well done Piskie, but why the drying out? It is a strange experience when you're the only one not drinking!

well done! It's not so hard really.
We have a couple of bottles of wine a week, but when Himself's not home I am dry, and I feel so much better for it. Clearer head next day, more energy ...

          Well done!

My next door neighbours in the UK used to be dry for the whole of January following the 'usual' Xmas and New Year celebrations.

Offering to drive all the time would help you too!

Well done, I went out last night and I had to drive so not one drop passed my lips. I had soft drinks. I dont drink a lot anyway, only when I go out which is few and far between and the occasional glass of wine at home mainly at weekends.

              Several reasons really -
I was drinking far too much
I want to improve my health
I want to ensure I'm not dependent
I wish to regain control of what had become a habit
...and lastly ... I shall shift some lbs

Wow, well done Piskie - I know how hard that can be. Another bonus is that when you start again you probably won't want a whole bottle - a glass or two will be enough!
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

Well done you!! I used to play darts on a regular basis many years ago (3 times a week, every week) and it was part of the proceedings to get squiffy. I had a break for a couple of seasons and when I rejoined the summer league I was on soft drinks and I had to wonder what I had found so amusing about the bunch of people I was now trying to hold a reasonable conversation with!! I didn't even see the season out.

Yay you indeed. I do the same for Lent and I don't really miss it at all but I always get back to "normal" at Easter
