  • not in any way garden related but......

i am growing my own.... baby that is. Now some of u lads out there may want to stop reading now as i'm about to say some stuff that might gross u out, ladies this is my 3rd pregnancy and according to the pregnancy calculator i am supposedly 4 weeks 4 days gone....... but this means i conceived on the 5th July ( impossible ).

Now my tummy is distended and i have flutterings ( although this could be nerves as suspected it for a few days ) boobs not particulary sore. My last monthly was late by a day and was very light so i'm wondering if maybe i'm actually further along than i think. As i said earlier this is my 3rd but i really can't remember having fluttering sensation or pot belly this early on with the first 2.

This pregnancy has taken us by surprise but we r very happy about it.

    First of all....congratulations!!!!

As to the rest of it- just go along with your gut feelings until the scan show otherwise!

...and even then- go with your gut feelings ( says she who worked in the health profession for more than 25 yrs!)

Urmm ...I still occasionally have strange flutterings like you describe- and no I'm most deffo not pregnant. If I press hard I'd expect a foot or elbow to resist- but nope- tis soft n squidgy.Aaahh..the joys of being 'of a certain age'

The body is a strange thing ain't it???

..just enjoy the whole experience gal!!!!

See what they say on the scan, They measure babba and estimate how far along you from the size of baby don't they?

Many, many congratulations and yes it's possible to be further on than everyone says (I did that once!), but then again everything seemed much earlier with my 3rd! I'm sure I've seen an advert for a home pregnancy test now that tells you how far on you are.

        Congratulations again

          Congratulations!!!!! ((((big hugs))))))).

I was told that each pregnancy is different and of course mum ages a little bit in between each one which affects things too. Like Nicos, I also am of a maturer age and get flutterings similar to those in pregnancy; I know its wind, but it still makes me smile remembering those little arms and legs jiggling about.

When you get your scans they will be able to give you a better idea of the eda, but kids being kids they come in their own good time anyway. I was absolutely unequivocally certain of the dates of conception of both of mine (don't ask, you don't want to know ) and the first was 8 days late and the second was 13 days late, so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

              Congratulations! Lovely news

I say go with what your body tells you... I speak from experience with my first child and being told my 'dates'. Except the dates they gave me coincided with being hospital having an operation!

and with the second one I felt him move at about 10 weeks and was in maternity clothes at 12 weeks. !!!

Congratulations, and why would anyone want to stop reading about the miracle of life.

Baby will be as far gone as baby is, already been decided so no need to worry, and will appear when good and ready.

                  Hope all goes smoothly.

I had a very light 'period' when I was 8 weeks into pregnancy. Couldn't understand why I was getting morning sickness a week later. He's now 30!
The 'calculated date' is timed from the start of the last period, whereas the actual date of becoming pregnant is typically about 2 weeks later.

Thanks all, i did another test this morning that had a conception indicator on it and it says i conceived 2-3 weeks ago so i'm almost 5 weeks gone, doc will send me for scan though as i have to have quad test and that has to be done at a certain time of pregnancy. I had quad test with my 2nd child and the results were that the risk factor of my 2nd having Downs syndrome was 1 in 40..... at the time i was 23 and results should have been something like 1 in 15,000. Quite a scary time for us as had to then have amniocentesis and wait 3 weeks to find out if she did have downs, she didn't but really would not like to go through that again.
