Our 4 year old had his ear drum perforated twice within three months
the doctor said we had to keep it dry in order for it to scab over and repair its self
he was put on penicillin to dry it out
his ear kept seeping puss when it first went the doctor said it was unable to dry out and scab over he was swimming twice a week at this point
so we had to cancel his swimming lessons
and we had to keep it dry for four weeks no showers or getting it wet in the bath
we had to take him back in every week to have it checked out and each time I the doctor let me look inside his ear with the thing with the light on and I could see it gradually getting better the dryer it got
I though it was not worth the risk as it could have affected him for the rest of his life if it got any worse
we just changed over from swimming to street dancing and now he's doing both
