mindless vandalism

Why do people bother minlessly vandalsising things?? Woke up this morning and found cars and kitchen window covered in rotten milk, orange juice, rice etc.

Had the police out as wanted it logging incase this becomes a frequent thing but obviously they couldnt do much. OH is now completely on edge. Hasnt actually bothered me. If it was an occurring thing I would be upset as I would feel targeted but as it is I just think it could have been worse and these things happen.

if you watch these Cop shows on tv ant night, street wars etc you'll see why...
the world is full of not very nice people with no conscience and respect for other peoples property and i'm afraid there are more of them than us

we are fighting a losing battle till someone makes ALL parents responsible for their little darlings actions, not saying it is kids but i think the odds would be in my favour if we had a bet on it

Tell OH to not worry too much about it and it's likely to be a one off thing...

I can understand your O.H. being upset Jax, I would be too. It's good that you reported it as you say in case it happens again, if these incidents aren't reported the police think there is no problem in the area.

A couple of years ago, someone 'visited' us in the middle of the night and chopped down 3 trees in our front garden....

We logged it with the police, in case further damage was done to our property.

Luckily, nothing else has ever happened. However, I know how your OH feels - we had several sleepless nights, jumping out of our skins the minute we heard a noise outside.

yeah, I know what you mean. I think its kids. Several reasons really, I think it would have been something worse (like battery acid) if it was someone older. Ive just known that these things become more extreme once your of a certain age. Also becausewe have had a bt of a problem with gobby kids before. Trouble is we "attract attention" because of trying to get OH out and about again so we go for a walk but because of the limited distance we can go we just end up walking up and down the road not going anywhere and the same when we drive and they think its wierd. Cant blame them it is odd and they are kids with no understanding of the difficulties people face.

I dont think it'll happen again though but its better to have these things logged just incase. Although just having to wash the car and windows isn't too bad as a result of vandals, could have been looking at replacing windows and tyres. Luckliy the acid in the orange didnt get a chance to do any damage as it chucked it down with rain.

I have decided cleaning all the yucky off the windows and cars in the rain is a horrid job! Im all itchy now from the rain!!

I really don't believe that is the case although it can seem like that at times. It doesn't take many people to seem like a lot and some will also copy when it's not really in them to act like that. However if you start believing that everybody is like that then the bad ones have won as you have lost all faith in human nature which is a real shame when there are some really great and generous spirited people out there.

There ARE some very nasty people out there (not all of them are badly-brought-up kids, but quite a few are) but as Alison says, they aren't actually that numerous, just SO conspicuous they seem common.
A lot more people just can't be bothered being either nice or nasty.....

When I lived near Worthing we woke up one morning to find the pavements, cars, houses and even Tesco covered in white emulsion paint. Story here
I had previously reported these youths on several occasions to the police for shouting, fighting and being generally troublesome at night.

I agree with Alison and Jackie...although by their intimidating presence the 'bad' sometimes seem the majority they really aren't and constant negativity to 'the youth of today' does nothing to encourage the average,possibly troubled teen to take the right path.
