It doesnt seem like 2 minutes since we first stumbled onto the 'vine, full of enthusiasm but without a clue how to grow anything at all! 4 years later and we still dont feel like we know all that much, but can safetly say that without the help, information and support from all of the 'grapes' on the 'vine that we probably wouldnt have had a crop at all yet, let alone get a VHC!
Outbling the mayor? Lol! Not sure if thats even possible is it?
Mind you, although its nice to finally be recognised as having a decent pair of plots, (at least now we can thumb our noses back to those on our site who've looked down their noses at our 'heath robinson' contraptions and unorthodox ways of working), but the real joys are not in winning awards (tho it is nice to have done so), but are in growing some great tasting fresh organic food, having a place that we enjoy being in and working, the contact with nature and the friendship of other plotholders and knowing we are doing our bit (no matter how small) to reduce our impact on the planet by reducing food miles and also saving a bit of money to boot!
We'd still be doing it whether there was an allotment judging or not, we both enjoy it too much to want to do anything else!Blessings
