I've got a Kenwood Chefette ( a wedding present 33 years ago and still going strong) and a Braun Multiquick 'whizzer' for soups, sauces etc. I've also got a little Kenwood liquidizer that I use for breadcrumbs etc - that was £1 from a jumble sale over 20 years ago .... do jumble sales still exist?

A Kitchen Aid might look pretty, but if you want to do lots of stuff with it, I'd go for the Kenwood. That one of Ollie's is great value for all the bits that come with it!
I got mine off eBay - someone's 'unwanted wedding present' and got it for nearly half the price of a new one, plus I have the mincer/sausage stuffer and the ice-cream maker.
Mine lives on the bench in the kitchen - my kitchen is a working room, not a fashion parade (as my Nana used to say to my mum )

I'd love to have a proper old fashioned Kenwood - you know the one with the detachable bowl.
I asked for one for my birthday a couple of years ago and OH and the girls dutifully went out and bought me a Kenwood [reet whispers very very quietly] but it was the wrong one .
I never had the heart to tell them and it does most of what I want but what I really wanted was the wiske and detachable bowl.
Maybe next time

I absolutely love my Kenwoods. I have two (as a family of six, there's often more than one person wanting to use one at once! ) and they both live on the worktop. Both mine were bargains, one from ebay, one from a charity shop. I don't agree that they're ugly, especially as one is the funky orange model from the 70sI was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

Kenwood every time for me. Mine is about 35 years old and has been serviced twice and still going strong. Served for 5 years in an almost industrial setting when I was baking for a Coffee Shop.

smallfrog, that's just my excuse for my kitchen looking like a tip, full of stuff that I can't wedge into the cupboards It's overspilled into the garage now, where I keep jars, bottles, the pressure canner (which is mahoosive!)... I try to have a clear-out but realise that I do actually use all of it... Oh for a massive farmhouse kitchen plus pantry, larder, scullery...

I have a kitchenaid. I really think I have overworked it with dough so when I saw a Kenwood chef major for £2.00 at the car boot yesterday I bought it. It is a
a707a with K beater and dough hook but alas no whisk. It is still in very good condition and don't think has had much use. However, until I can find a whisk it has been relegated to the garage where it will be used for bread.

Never mind. I had fun spit and polishing it and will now wait till a whisk turns up.

Brengirl you're right there's not that many cheap attachments for the major but you've still got a bargain there
this site has some info on the Major
