I was just wondering which to do - get in a hot bath or put the heating on! Still can't decide so I've put the gas fire on instead.
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

Sat here in my 3/4 lengths and t-shirt. However, I have been known to stand outside on a frosty/snowy morning in my shorts, flip-flops and a hoodie cooking breakfast on a barbecue (at Centre Parcs one year).

I put mine on for 1 hour now and again to take the chill off. All the rain we have had lately makes the house feel cold and damp, so a bit of heat makes the house and me feel better.

I edged up the thermostat too today.

I get cold sitting like a blob in the office at home, but tend to stave off the 'well, normal people at work would have the heating on' moment by running up two flights of stairs a few times.

Not that this is deliberate, just a handy bi-product of keeping oft-needed work stuff in the attic room, and getting to the age that I regularly think 'now what have I come in here for?'

I was cold sitting in the (north facing) sitting room last night- the thermostat said 19c but it lies! so I went upstairs to sew (south facing room, much nicer). I won't put the heating on for at least another month, I'll put a jumper on.

It got down to 7c last night, and there's a heavy dew.

Guess who's going camping this weekend? ! (I'm packing hot water bottles & blackberry whisky )

and guess who has just done 40 mins on cross trainer thinking 'blimey I'm training hard this morning, I'm sweating'

and guess who hadn't sorted the timer out properly

The sweep is coming next Friday and I think then I will light the Rayburn and the wood-burner in the evenings. Not for our comfort, mind as I shall be working most nights, but to keep our chilly whippets warm.
I'd have them in bed with me but O.H. prefers to light the fires.

Still not cold enough to put the heating on. Blimey piskie your bills seem cheap, gas and electric ( cook, heating and hot water by gas ) and the bills are £124 a MONTH.

I'd say so - you and I probably have approx the same fuel consumption, both having home offices - and my combined bill is £89pm. It was £125 pm before I changed to EON about 6 months ago. Do you get subsidised rates in MQ?

I'll find in interesting to see if consumption of electric goes down now I have a properly insulated kitchen (it was drafty!), and a more efficient fridge & freezer.

Had a text from Mme Pastis last night, weather is now starting to get cold at home, (although she properly is nesh) so when I get back next week I will suffer for the first couple of days I reckon.
Here is still well into the high 30's. I was at the Sheraton hotel pool yesterday, muchos warm.

                            Brilliant!!

My combined bill is currently £165 a month! £105 of that is electric (very old, inefficient cooker, plus tumble drier and big freezer). In the winter, I have to add the cost of logs/coal to that too.

's no wonder we're always skint

We pay a dd all year round of £30 each for gas and electric.... Our consumption of gas has not gone up since we moved here (in fact has gone down) - we used to pay £9 a month in 2000! Can't remember how much we payed for electric though but our average daily usage is 10 units.

No heating on here yet though... all windows still on latch but it is starting to get just a little chilly in the mornings!
