You must all be very cold mortals! I've still got all the windows open and one of the doors and am wearing a t-shirt. I try not to put the heating on before the end of October but if it IS very cold then I will give way before then. (I'll put on a jumper or a fleece before the heating goes on, mind!)
The weather is very odd here at the moment though - first raining then boiling hot sunshine.Forbidden Fruits make many Jams.

Weird weather here too. Dull and damp at the moment, but hasn't been cold. It is more chilly today, and despite my earlier comment, I do now have goose-bumps!
My teeth may be chattering, but I'm not putting a jumper on yet!All the best - Glutton 4 Punishment

I'm pretty well acquainted with nesh and I can say with a straight face - it do not apply to me matey, my mate up in North Yorks comes down here last week and was COLD Now herself really can claim the nesh title!!
If you look at my title is says 'come close to' not actually put it on And it hasn't gone on here yet, although come evening time the sitting room windows are starting to be shut down - the bedroom windows are open 365 days.
The quilt did get upgraded to the Autumn tog rating and very nice it was tooLast edited by piskieinboots; 19-08-2010, 07:29 AM.aka

same here Nicos hun - I love love love cold clear crisp mornings - but only if I have woolly socks on and warm jumpers.
Indoors, however, is a different matter - I don't actually want to wear tons of clothes for warmth, I want to be able to be cosy without overcoats - and I know I am lucky in that a) my utility bills are good, b) I can afford to have the heating on.
Speaking of Ut bills - I pay £55 per month for gas (heating) and electric (cooking) combined, I think of that as good - but wonder if it actually is.aka

Agree Piskie- hate being togged up indoors...goodness know what this place was like 350 years ago with only open wood fires and bare earth floors

Currently sat here in shorts, t shirt and flip flops, having just come back in from the garden where its properly lovely and warm.
I left work on Wednesday where it was 39 degrees at 0730, and flew home to only about 12 degrees and a biting cold wind off the sea. Since then its warmed up, and I've been perpetually drunk since a wedding on Saturday so not feeling the cold at all.Bob Leponge

I thought nesh was a particularly midlands dialect word, hence I thought Zazzen999 would know what I was talking about. (obviously not). As OH keeps on saying 'wrong yet again missis'.
It is getting really 'backendish', but really do try to put off the evil day when we succumb to the oncoming winter. (Changing the duvet, putting on the heat, etc).
I really do get 'down in the dumps' at this time of year, knowing that it is only going to get darker and, weatherwise, nastier, BUT it won't be long before we will be up and growing again.
