Thinking of joining local food initiative

Daughter and I are thinking of joining our local food initiative. We went round earlier and visited them and came away with a free box of veg! Has anyone else had any experience of this sort of thing. It is trying to encourage people to buy locally grown food. I think the premise is that you put in a minimum number of hours on the plots and in return you are entitled to a veg box as a member which costs �25 a year or you can become a volunteer in which case you pay for the veg box. We got a single persons veg box today but is was stuffed full of veg

Not heard of it before SR, where exactly is it? My daughter only lives up the road and she would be interested in something like that.
