Yep, that's why I love dogs. 
I've thought about it, and as far as I am concerned, my dog is as important to me as any human member of family. I'd risk my life, no doubt about it. And that I suppose is exactly how they feel about other members of the pack.
There's no point reading history if you don't use the lessons it teaches.
