    Hi all

Need help with this, maths has never been my strongest point and I want to be a Bus Driver . Anyway I want to know how to work something out now I cannot explain it very well so i'll show you an example and hopefully you'll understand what im trying to say. (Example) I want to travel 40 miles at a certain speed lets say 50mph I want to work out how long it will take to get there. Hope you understand what I'm trying to say.

    Thank

    Daniel

40 miles; at 50 miles per hour would be

    40/50 times 60 = 48 minutes

and put into longhand that is 40 divided by 50 times 60

An awful long time since I was at school but I can just remember that

        Distance = Speed * Time

Distance devided by Time = Speed

        So as Zazan says.......40 devided by 50 = time = 4/5hr = 48min.

It might help you if you first start with something easy, such as:

60 miles travelled, at 60mph = one hour
            so
60 miles travelled, at 30mph = 2 hours (half as fast, takes twice as long)
            and
            60 miles travelled, at 15mph = 4 hours

Once you get that sorted, you can test yourself on more difficult combinations of distance and speed

Good luck Roadcar, I'll wave if you drive past me

(the question was answered but I wanted to post something)

Isn't the answer "whatever the timetable says" ?

So Roadcar, you want to be a bus driver. Good on yer and I do so hope you get the job. These aptitude tests are never relevent to real life but have to be done. Where I live it is impossible to relate distance/time/speed. We run a taxi firm in a rural area and when tourism season begins all the logical calculations go out of the window.
Good luck with the new job. Remember your country needs you lol.

At bus driver training school, do they teach you to put a big notice at the front of the bus "remain seated until the bus is stationary" and then to accelerate away while the passengers are still trying to walk to their seats?

And to make sure none of the air blowers work on hot days, but won't turn off in winter?

And to keep the windows so filthy dirty that nobody can see when their stop is coming up?

LOL!!Oh and dont forget if some old lady is walking to the front of the bus whilst in motion, to alight at the next stop, break suddenly for no apparent reason..
