We had one appear from somewhere under or behind the sofaa couple of evenings ago. OH let out a startled yelp and said something about "we've got a tarantula" when it ran over his knees!
It seemed to want to watch TV with us, but eventually was persuaded to go and sit somewhere else. Similar sort of size and shape to Wayne's "Sir".

Late the other night, watching the box in bed with my arn tucked behind my head I felt a 'thunk' on my arm. I turnedd on the light expecting to see a moth and saw it was the most humngus black spider. I tell you if ever you wanted to see a fat woman levitate that was it. My partner said he has never seen anything move as fast as me gettin off that bed. The humongus beastly creature was dealt with by my partner. It was 4am when I decided to get back into bed. I am now sleeping with my head halfway down the bed and refuse to get back with my head near the wall in case there are more. Poor partner has to sleep with the duvet at a 45 deg angle.................

Are we related - that is EXACTLY what I do!
I didn't use my mum's downstairs loo for about 12 years when I got trapped in there with one.

              I have found Fred !......
He was walking across our lounge carpet last night - he was that big that a small child could have taken a ride on his back.
I picked him up and put him in the garden (bet he is back inside now)
I could actually feel the weight of him in my hand!!! HUGE!

Janeyo; me going to the bathroom.......
Go to bathroom door, open door, pull the light switch [day or night] stand on thresh hole and scan the wall in front, left & right. Not forgetting to look into the mirror on the wall in front as it gives a clear view of above the door and the wall. Step inside without closing the door [so i have an escape route] and shake out the towels, look behind the shower curtain, check the loo roll and then under the seat. If its safe i go in, if not run like stink and get my partner or cross legs until he is home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Although I know there is nothing comical for those who suffer from arachnophobia, some of the things people do about it are VERY amusing to see or hear about.
I've never really been worried by spiders, or snakes, or... well, ANYTHING alive (beyond rational caution. I wouldn't want to meet a hungry bear....) so I simply 'don't get it', but I do realize just how bad it can be for some folk.
Have any of those who are scared ever had to cope with someone (maybe a child) who is even MORE scared? It's amazing what you can do in such circumstances (although it might give you bad dreams for a few nights afterwards).
