Can someone please explain to me how it can be, as our erstwhile PM is claiming, fair for Child Benefit:
to be removed from a household where only one parent is working but said parent happens to be earning over £44k; and
kept by a household with 2 working parents, where neither earns over £44k individually but where their salaries make a COMBINED household income over £44k.
How can this be fair?
I would have no objection to them removing our CB if the decision was based on HOUSEHOLD income and NOT individual salary.

It's not fair but is easy and cheap to bring in as they already know who pays higher rate tax. To assess it on household income would mean far more work so they would end up saving less money. Builders who leave bits of concrete and brick buried under the grass. I've just spent the whole day trying to turn over a new 10m bed. Had to give up after the fourth large piece of concrete was too heavy for me - I managed to get it out of the ground, but can't lift it onto the barrow. The back said 'no more'.
So, I didn't finish the job, and I don't have any more free time until next week.
