My perennial rant, the Algerian consulate.
Went down yesterday to try and plead for a visa, had all my paperwork exactly as requested on both their own website and the list in the visa office.
Hands over paperwork, to be told I need a copy of every page of my passport. When I explained, politely, that their own website and office list quite clearly stated that I needed a copy of the personal details page only, I was actually told "ah but for you, I want every page."
Once that was done, after a 20 minute stamp through the blizzard, back into the office and handed them over. Took wallet out of pocket, usual price anything between 125 and 180 euro per visa. "Um, give me 400 euro please."
When I asked if she was sure, as the last one I had paid for had cost me 165 euro, I was informed that prices go up. "More than 100% in less than 3 months?"
"Yes!"
A half hour stamp through the blizzard to get to the nearest cashpoint, to find that my UK bank card didnt work and my French bank's computer system was temporarily down.
Oh the joys.

I'm waiting in all day for a parcel again. Could arrive any time between 7am and 6pm, no they can't be more specific. It's snowing hard so I thought I'd check if it's even on its way: sorry we can't give you more information. No we can't leave it in a safe place or with a neighbour either. No, even though your OH works a mile from our depot, and he'd be saving us a 60 mile round trip, he can't pick it up.

If I'm stuck indoors until 6pm I'll be v.v.cross. I need a paper and some sweeties

SNOW!!! Went to the hospital for minor intervention Wednesday, recovering nicely, then looked out the widow and pointed out to nice nurse that perhaps I should be going home now..... No, must wait for doc who didn't turn up until 6pm - then TOO MUCH SNOW - had to spend the night there - no toothbrush etc... not nice, eh girlies? THEN, they said I would have to spend another night so as to be there for chemo on Friday - not on your Nelly! Nice neighbour with chains on his car brought Mr PN to come a save me!!!
