Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.
Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Whilst the majority of nutters can't do with the shops being closed for 1 day (you know the type) They are the ones you see punching the living daylights out of each other over the last pint of UHT milk or the ones with a small dairys worth in several trolleys leaving none for anyone else...Ashford has a breed of of panic buyers all of it's own it would seem...not milk, eggs or bread but... I can't even put all the details on here, as I'm so mad...
Suffice it to say that my rant is about my SIL and how she brings up her children (or not).
After a visit to them on Christmas Eve to drop off presents, both Mr OWG and I came away and cried on the way back home about the whole situation.
The house was filthy (and I don't just mean untidy); the kids were in dirty clothes, and the first thing Mr OWG did was find a wet-wipe and wipe their hands and faces.
Both of the kids have got chest infections; but since my SIL, FIL and a couple of other people who see the kids regularly are heavy smokers; it's not a surprise.
My neice, who is not quite 3, has terrible behaviour, that no-one (but me and Mr OWG?!!) can seem to control - she has smashed a tv and pulled it off the wall, thrown a laptop at a window etc. However, I spent 15 mins playing silly games with both of them; and she was absolutely fine. When she did play up, I just used a couple of easy techniques and she snapped out of it.
It's like no-one seems to care about them enough to do anything. If we try and help; we are 'interfering' and should leave SIL to parent her own children - however, when your kids are in dirty clothes, coughing up phelgm cos of your smoking and are smashing up furniture - I can't see how that is parenting!
Of course, if you speak about it to the rest of the family, it's all about how difficult SIL finds it etc; e.g. she never has time to clean, or tidy etc, despite not working, being at home all day, and having FIL round at her house 3 days a week.
Phew - I feel a little better for getting that off my chest...

Kids don't just do that sort of thing; they cry & scream yeah, but violence is learned behaviour
Oh, my rant.
People standing in shop doorways for a chat. People hanging onto tables in cafes when their cups are empty and nobody else can sit down
Children who WILL NOT listen or do as they're told. OHs who watch the darts while you're struggling to control children, run baths, cook dinner & do the laundryAll gardeners know better than other gardeners." -- Chinese Proverb.
